Prasonisi lighthouse
Short hiking trip to Prasonisi lighthouse building located in the southernmost point of the Rhodes island. Tha place is sometimes called the capital of water sports because of the strong winds that are prevalent here for most time of the year.
Like most of the beaches in Rhodes Prasonisi also has a parking lot located nearby. We start from there and walk the sand strip between the seas which is really unique place to be. After reaching the rocks on the other side we locate the country road climbing up the Prasonisi island/peninsula and follow it. It takes us to the lighthouse building/ruins. The building is officially locked for visitors but there is a way to get in if you look hard enough. I met some people that got in to take a photo from the lighthouse tower.
The return path could go the same country road or taking a path close to western cliffs. It offers probably more interesting views, there are some cairns on the way.
Rather warm (20 degrees) yet cloudy with faint wind.
No trail, just country road and path.

Getting to Prasonisi island/peninsula is dependent on wind and water level conditions. On days with high wind the sandy strip connecting Prasonisi to Rhodes island will be flooded with sea waters. It should be shallow enough to cross but requires getting into water obviously and probably wading among kitesurfers or other watersports folks.
No dangers if crossed on calm sea. Otherwise sea conditions set the bar.
